Pakistan desires to improve ties with India: President Alvi
President Dr. Arif Alvi says the groundbreaking of Kartarpur corridor has sent a strong message to the world that the present government in Pakistan has serious desire to improve ties with India and is desperate for peace.

In an interview with a private television channel, he termed as unfortunate the statement of Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj that Kartarpur Corridor is not a peace initiative by Pakistan and that India would not participate in the SAARC.

The President said despite various peace overtures by the PTI government, India does not respond positively and has rigid stand on relations with Pakistan.

He said India has double standards on Kashmir and is neither abiding by Simla agreement nor UN resolutions.

To a question about recent attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi, he said the possibility of Indian involvement in it cannot be ruled out.

About prosecution of Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav, the President said he should be prosecuted by Pakistani courts and if his mercy petition comes to his office, he would act on government’s advice.
