Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said that the parliament is not merely a place for debates as it is meant to enact laws for the country.
While addressing the National Assembly (NA) session, Shah termed parliament as ‘mother’ of state institutions, adding that PPP has been fighting for the supremacy of the House for 50 years. My party is ready to render any sacrifice for continuity of democracy in the country, he stated.
He said that speaker plays an important role in building confidence of the parliamentarians. “What is said on floor of parliament cannot be challenged,” he added.
Shah went on to say that PPP leaders are not bothered by arrests, rather they are concerned about the country. No one questions those who breached the Constitution.
The MNA said it was decided yesterday that opposition leaders will speak first in the session.
