Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Saturday said that he was not involved in corruption and if any charges of corruption are proven then he will step down from his post.

Addressing the District Bar Association in Rawalpindi on Saturday, he said that he is not involved in corruption and appealed the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to conduct an open trial against him.

Justice Siddiqui said that Pakistan can be compared with India, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka instead of comparing with the United States or Europe.

“India will be a bigger economic power by 2030 and we are going backward,” he said.

The IHC judge said that for a long time, he wanted to present myself before the bar for accountability because only bar can hold him accountable.

“I wanted to present myself before the bar for accountability of the last three decades,” he added.

He said: "Every time I pass a judgment in some crucial case, a campaign starts claiming that there are ongoing corruption charges against me."
