Governor urges COAS to play his 'role' in implementation of Constitutional framework in Punjab

PM Shahbaz sharif
Governor Punjab Omar Sarfraz Cheema in a letter written to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that you created political crisis by unconstitutional use of power and Hamza Shehbaz took unfair advantage of being your son.

According to the text of the letter, the Governor of Punjab said that the unconstitutional and illegal forgery of the Chief Minister has taken the province hostage and has officially informed the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the heads of other constitutional bodies about the situation.

Cheema further stated in the letter that he was aware of the political and legal impasse in the province and consider it his responsibility to inform you of some important reasons in this regard. He said Usman Buzdar s resignation as Chief Minister is controversial and the PML-N won the disgusting support of de facto members for a majority in the Punjab Assembly, while members of parliament who changed allegiances were presented to the media.

The Governor Punjab further wrote in the letter that the Lahore High Court (LHC) has been moved for the disputed election of the Chief Minister, adding that the main figure in all this unconstitutional process is Hamza Shehbaz, who has taken advantage of being the son of the Prime Minister.

The Governor Punjab stated that the Punjab Assembly Secretariat had also sent him report on CM s disputed election and the Secretary Assembly informed about the legal violations related to fraudulent elections in the report, while media also showed controversial election to the world and Advocate General Punjab also declared the election of Chief Minister illegal.

The Governor in his letter stated that the recent election is a black mark on the 100 year history of the Punjab Assembly, while the Chief Secretary and the IG Punjab also played a vicious role in this matter. Prior to the handover ceremony, he said the Governor House was cordoned off in the name of security and the Chief Secretary tried to put pressure on the Governor by justifying the High Court orders.

Zuckerberg aims to spend more on metaverse, investors skeptical

Zuckerberg aims to spend more on metaverse, investors skeptical

Mark Zuckerberg
In October of last year, Mark Zuckerberg had expressed his ambitions to go all-in for the Metaverse while it becomes more expensive over time. After Meta's stock price took a hit, the CEO and Facebook founder, has said that he will “slow the pace of some of our investments”.

Meta's profits were down 21% around $7.5 billion from last year, while revenue growth was the slowest the company has experienced yet, rising 7% to $27.9 billion. The company lowered its target expense range for the year 2022 by $3 billion.

The Verge reported that Zuckerberg is, however, actively developing software and devices for the metaverse, while Meta's division Reality Labs is making Quest VR headset and future AR glasses. The division has 17,000 employees and lost $3 billion in the last quarter. The ambitious innovative developments in the company is making investors uncomfortable in the face of declining profits.

Meta's stock price has already plummeted almost 50% which prompted Zuckerberg to reveal that he spent $10 billion on Reality Labs that year alone, which did not reap as many results as expected.

Moreover, Facebook's ad business is rapidly decreasing as users shift to other platforms like TikTok and after companies like Apple introduced the ad tracking change policy.

Meta claimed that Apple's app tracking feature cost the company $10 billion in revenue. In the last quarter, Facebook reported a slight increase in users by just 4%, while combined users of both Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp tweaked up from 2.82 billion to 2.87 billion.

Principal analyst at Insider Intelligence, Jasmine Enberg says, "Meta’s ad business continues to face some very real challenges. Facebook, of course, is no stranger to obstacles, but the iOS changes are the first direct threat to its ad business. Combined with the rise of TikTok, brand safety concerns, and a shift in social media user behaviour, there’s a perfect storm heading straight for Meta’s ad revenues.”

Zuckerberg recently announced the short-form video product, Reels, as a duplicate of TikTok which accounted for 20% of time spent on Instagram and is using the feature to run ads. The Facebook is also releasing the social platform, Horizon and the reality headset, Cambria.

Rana Sana rejects claims of govt registering case against Imran Khan

Rana Sana rejects claims of govt registering case against Imran Khan

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said Tuesday the government did not have an first information report (FIR) registered against PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

The interior minister's comments came after around 150 people, including former prime minister Khan, were named in a case relating to hooliganism at Masjid-e-Nabawi last week.

The case was registered against the suspects at the Madina Town Police Station in Faisalabad on the complaint of a citizen named Muhammad Naeem.

On Monday, the Islamabad High Court restrained government authorities from taking any further action against the PTI leadership in the Masjid-e-Nabawi sanctity violation case.

However, in his press conference today, the interior minister said he supported the reasoning of taking action against people if they hurt the religious sentiments of others.

Sanaullah warned that similar complaints were recorded at different police stations across the country, and the police were investigating the cases.

Chiding the PTI leadership, the interior minister said the party had issued "fatwas" against the PML-N, which resulted in the interior minister and now planning minister Ahsan Iqbal getting shot in 2018.

"They [the PTI] were happy at that time and labelled these incidents as good," the interior minister said, noting that now, when the tables had turned, they were upset over it.

Sanaullah asked the PTI leadership to condemn the hooliganism that took place when alleged party supporters had hurled abuses and engaged in physical attacks on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's delegation at the Masjid-e-Nabawi last week.

He claimed that MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique — the nephew of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed — had taken people from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia for the hooliganism, while Sahibzada Jahangir was also involved in it.

Khan had last week termed the hooliganism incident as a "public reaction" and said it was a "consequence" of the government's deeds.

Moving on, the interior minister said Pakistan was facing tough times as an "incompetent group" had left the economy in a shambles. "An anarchist was leading the country [before us]".

Sanaullah slammed the PTI for holding rallies across the country on the call of their party chairman and claimed that never in the history of the sub-continent had people held rallies on the eve of Eidul Fitr.

The interior minister added that due to PTI's attitude toward other parties, their allies had parted ways with them. He said an election would take place in the next 12-14 months.
